Our Mission

At the heart of our service is the belief that every person living with dementia deserves to feel understood and connected, and every caregiver deserves to feel supported and confident.

Founded by a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Dementia Practitioner, Anchor Care Consulting brings together clinical expertise and a deep understanding of the unique communication and cognitive challenges that accompany dementia. We provide personalized, practical strategies to help better understand your loved ones, reduce frustration, and create more meaningful moments of connection.

When dementia is uncertain, you become the anchor. We cannot control the tides, but we can help navigate them. Our mission is to help caregivers feel steady in an unsteady tide.

Meet Ashley

About six years ago, I stepped foot into a nursing home and my life was changed forever. As a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Dementia Practitioner, I have a passion for helping individuals living with dementia and the individuals who care for them. Working closely with this population has taught me that dementia affects so much more than just memory. It can change the way a person communicates, understands the world around them, participates in everyday activities, and connects with the people they love. And for caregivers, knowing how to respond to these changes can feel overwhelming.

That’s where Anchor Care Consulting comes in.

I created ACC to give families and caregivers something that was missing: personalized, practical guidance from a clinician who understands both dementia care and communication. When your mom suddenly refuses to shower or your husband repeats the same question asking to go home when he is at home, you don't need another generic dementia handout, you need guidance. Rather than simply telling caregivers what not to do, I can help families understand the why behind their loved one’s behaviors and communication, and provide realistic strategies they can use in everyday life.

You don’t have to navigate dementia alone. ACC is here to help you feel more anchored along the way.

Our Service

1:1 Virtual Caregiver ConsultationsPersonalized support for the challenges you’re facing right now.

Caring for someone with dementia can leave you wondering, “what am I supposed to do?” Whether you’re struggling with communication, resistance to care, changes in behavior, or everyday routines, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Anchor Care’s 1:1 virtual caregiver consultations provide personalized guidance during a 45-minute virtual session where we will talk through the specific challenges you’re experiencing, explore what may be contributing to them, and develop practical strategies tailored to your loved one and your family, that you can apply immediately after our session.

What will we discuss?

  • Communication breakdowns and how to respond

  • Repetitive questions and conversations

  • Resistance to bathing, dressing, eating or other daily activities

  • Helping your loved one participate more successfully in everyday activities

  • Approaches for preserving dignity, independence and connection

  • Strategies for communicating with someone whose dementia is progressing

  • Questions about how to respond when your loved one says or does something that is difficult to navigate

You’ll leave the session with practical, individualized strategies you can actually use at home— and a better understanding of what your loved one may be communicating through their words, actions, and behaviors.

Why Anchor Care?

We take a different approach to dementia support—one that looks beyond the diagnosis and focuses on the person and caregiver behind it.

Personalized Approach

There is no one-size-fits all approach to dementia. If you’ve met one person with dementia, you’ve met one person with dementia. ACC takes the time to understand your loved one, your family, and the specific challenges you are facing so that the strategies we recommend are realistic and meaningful for your situation.

Practicality

Our goal is not to overwhelm you with information. It’s to give you strategies you can understand, implement, and use in moments that matter—from getting through a difficult shower to navigating a conversation.

Compassion without judgement

Caregiving can be exhausting, emotional and unpredictable. You need someone in your corner who can listen, help you understand the why behind what is happening today, and guide you toward what may work better.

Connection matters. Even as dementia changes, meaningful connection is still possible. We want to find ways to communicate, participate, and connect with our loved ones while preserving dignity every step  of the way. You know your loved one best, so let us bring the evidence-based strategies, and together, we can find a way to move forward.
